Color Blind Cameras and Light

10:38 AM

If you don't know already, for the past two years a have bartered for lessons from a professional photographer. She is an amazing teacher, and she is also a really good friend, but that's besides the point. I have learned tons of stuff from her and since I'm homeschooled I have a lot of time to research photography stuff, but my research as just scraped the surface of what I could know.
I've known a videographer for as long as I can remember, but we don't really know each other. Yesterday a had a chance to sit down with a him (who also happens to know a lot about photography). It was so cool to hear him explain things on a very simple and easy to understand level. Since he doesn't really know me, he thought that I would know everything about everything that there is to know about photography. :) He found out very quickly that I know only a drop of what there is to know about photography in the whole Mississippi River. :) (That's a something that my mom says a lot.)
He told me two things that really stuck in a head that I had never thought of before.
#1 Cameras are colored blind (they only see grey),so you have to outsmart them.
#2 I love the way he put this. "Photography is really taking pictures of light, the people are just your props."
