Guilty as Charged

9:18 AM

I had know for a while that I hadn't been spending enough time with God, so I tried to read my Bible more and pray in depth, but it wasn't real, I was doing it for the wrong reasons. I went to my church youth group the other night and the lesson was "What Do You Put Before God?". Lance (our youth pastor) told us to share what we put before God. Most of our youth didn't say anything (including me), because they were to afraid that they would be the only one to say something and end up looking like a sinner. Heaven forbid that we look like sinners! :)

The two most outgoing students spoke up and they both had they same problem. They said that they put everything before God! I know what you're thinking, but isn't it true...don't we put everything else before God? Our excuses are that we don't have time, I mean with work, school, homework, chores, sports practice, clubs, the list could go on forever, we just don't have time, right? Wrong. How many hours do you spend in front of the TV, commenting on someone's facebook status, reading a book, texting, calling, or chatting with your friends, and I hate to say it, but even blogging? How much time do you spend with God? A couple minutes, just to be able to say that you spent time with God today? I think that the creator of the universe deserves more than that!

So from now on I'm going to have a devotion, not just flip to random page and start reading. I'm also going to start praying in depth, not just "thank you for this day Amen". I hope that you start to make an effort to spend more time with the One that made you.
