I have been reading through the book of James this past month. It is now my favorite book of the Bible (if that's possible). It has so much wisdom stuffed into 5 itty-bitty chapters!

Chapter 1:

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." (James 1:2-4)

These few verses have helped me in GREAT ways in the past year. It amazes me how much power these few verses have!

Chapter 2:

"What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself." (James 2:14-17)

This verse speaks for itself.

Chapter 3:

Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many waysIf anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well. Now if we put the bits into the horses’ mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well. Look at the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot desires. So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.
(James 3:1-5)

I like any verse that uses a horse as an example :)

I encourage you to read these few chapters! There is much wisdom to be learned from this very small book of the Bible!
