The One About Role Models

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”

― William Shakespeare

I have always known that this little girl looks up to me, but here recently she has verbally said that she does.
She told her Bible Drill teacher "I am following in my sister's footsteps!" She also tried to explain to that teacher who Lecrae is...*facepalm*
In school work she was asked "who is someone you know that likes to read their Bible?" She replied with "My big sister."

Talk about a reality check!

I pray that I am a good role model to all my siblings and others around me...but Amelia talking about how much she looks up to me made me think about my role models...or big sisters as I like to call them.

When I was just a few years younger I use to OBSESS about a few people in my life that I thought were the greatest thing to walk the face of the earth. I finally "got over" it. I still think that those people are cool and I still consider them my "big sister" figures. When I was 12-14 I wanted a big sister so bad! I still do, but more so in those years. Parents and peers are great, but there is just something about someone that you can take advice from, trust with your secrets (no matter how dumb), but that are wiser than you.

I have been thinking about the "big sisters" in my life. What do I admire in them? I realized that I admire all the things that I would like to have. Character traits mostly.

The ability to not care what others think
The ability to talk about Jesus with non-believers easily
Honesty with tact

These are the things that I crave to be. I work toward it everyday. I am getting there slowly, and for that I'm glad.
